Overhead Crane

Description:

Overhead cranes are is typically designed for industrial settings to lift and handle heavy loads with capacity from 2 tons to 500 tons. It usually consists of a hoist, trolley, bridge, end carriages, power supply and control system. The hoist moving along the bridge and the bridge moving along the tracks fitted on the bay support beams. The overhead crane is often used in warehouses, factories, shipyards, and other places where large, heavy items need to be moved across a wide area.

Types:

According to girder numbers, there are 3 main types:

  1. Single-girder Crane: Has 1 main horizontal girder and is typically used for lighter loads.

  2. Double-girder Crane: Has 2 main girders and is designed for heavier loads, offering more stability and a higher lifting capacity.

  3. Multi-girder Overhead Crane: For very heavy lifting such as ladles, there can be 4 girders.

According to application, there are so many types such as:

  1. General-purpose Crane: Most commonly seen overhead cranes in workshop, warehouse, operation room, etc. to lift workpieces, machines, blocks, sections, tools, etc.

  2. Metallurgy Crane: Mainly used at steel plants to lift steel plates, pipes, sheets, bars, ladles, coils, tanks, scraps, slabs, etc. also used for quenching, casting, forging, etc.

  3. Power Plant Crane: Used in power plant mainly for handling of stator and rotor.

  4. Paper Mill Crane: In service area of paper making for duly depositing and transporting woods, pulp product line, paper and cardboard making, scrap basket and tissue making.

  5. Cement Plant Crane: To do loading, unloading, leveling, and stocking operations.

  6. Incineration Plant Crane: To grab wastes to the next incineration process.

  7. Insulation Crane: To prevent the current passing through the lifting mechanism to the crane and threatening the operator's life, parts of the insulation overhead crane are protected by insulation treatment.

According to different lifters, there are also many types:

  1. Hook Crane: Most commonly seen overhead cranes with lifter hooks.

  2. Beam Crane: The lifter is a beam for long objects such as steel pipes, precast, steel sheets, etc.

  3. Grab Bucket Crane: With grab buckets to handle bulk materials such as coal, sand, scraps, wastes, grains, cements, etc.

  4. Electromagnetic Beam Crane: With Electromagnetic Beam lifter to attract metal objects such as steel pipe, sheet, etc.

  5. Electromagnetic Disc Crane: With Electromagnetic round disc lifter to attract metal scraps.

  6. Clamps Crane: Use clamps to lift slabs, graphite electrodes, etc.

  7. Chain Bucket Crane: With chain bucket to handle bulk materials such as coal.

  8. Multifunction Crane: Mainly for metallurgy and complexed production process such as Electrolytic Copper, Graphite Electrode, Electrolytic Aluminum, etc.
